How to play
Grid Beta
A daily 3×3 board of players. Fill every square with someone who played with both. Grid is in beta, so the rules may still change - tell us what you think with the Send feedback button on the game page.
How a game works
- 1Read the board
Each day's board has three players across the top and three down the side, all from the same sport.
- 2Fill a square
Tap a square and name a player who played with both the row player and the column player. They don't have to have played with both on the same team, or in the same season.
- 3Finish the board
Nine squares, nine guesses. Your score is how many squares you got right.
Good to know
- One guess per square. A wrong guess still uses up that square.
- Any real teammate of both players counts - they don't have to be a star.
- A player can only be used once per board, and the six players on the board can't be answers. Neither costs you a guess.
- Tap a filled square to see the teams your answer shared with each player.
- Stuck? Give up to end the board. Once a board is over, every square you missed shows a player who would have worked.
- When a board is over, tap Share results to copy a spoiler-free grid of your hits and misses - no player names.
- A new board arrives every day at midnight Eastern, for MLB, NFL, NBA and NHL. Every square has several answers from recent seasons.
Tips
- Start with the squares you know, then come back to the tough ones.
- Players who bounced around the league fit lots of squares. The less obvious your answer, the better - rare answers are the fun part.
